I am

I am Vicki O’Neal, ASID, CID, VSLD, a designer by education, practice, and passion. My existence in all its facets seems to wind its way back to design in some form or fashion.  The lifestyle design slant started when I was an adolescent. I was very petite and could never find clothes to fit that were located outside the children’s department.

Out of fashion frustration, at the age of twelve I learned to sew and started making my (and Barbie’s) clothes. The creative gene was activated, and over time I decided that fashion design was the life for me.  That interest evolved into interior design as a course of study, and ultimately into my career.  For the full story of my career path read “Interior Design” and “Landscape Design” page tabs.

I was at the drs. office this morning browsing a magazine. I saw your add about quick drain inc. We have a shower which we would like to put 12×12 tiles in but in talking with a contractor he doesn’t see that this is possible due to the draining. He says he could only use small tiles in order to get the proper slope and angle for draining. I really don’t want small tiles due to the fact that the tiles are almost impossible (no make that impossible) to keep clean. The grout molds, etc. Looked like you had put large tiles in a shower. We don’t need anything as elegant as a spa. Our shower stall is not a normal size, so can’t use a shower pan that is not specially made. Any ideas?

Hi Pat- Thanks for your message! The Quick Drain product requires a rework of the plumbing if you are renovating. It’s not a big deal in new construction, but can be more challenging in renovation. Many contractors are not familiar with it, so are sometimes resistant. I’d be happy to talk with you about it.
Thanks again!
Vicki
